A Sunday Brunch That Turned Into Something Beautiful
(WARNING: SCREEN MAY GET BLURRY🥹)
A few weeks ago — Sunday, October 5 — my husband and I woke up and randomly decided to go to one of our favorite brunch spots, Rosallie Le French Café in Winter Garden.
We hadn’t been in over a year, and never on a Sunday. The line was out the door — a good 15-minute wait just to order at the counter before sitting down.
In front of me stood a woman named Suz-Anne, 78 years old. She kept stepping out of line to peek through the window at her husband, John, who was waiting patiently on the patio. Between quick glances outside, she turned around with the warmest smile and started chatting with me and the girl in front of us — reminiscing about all the times she and John had been to this café over the years.
They’ve been visiting Rosallie for nearly twenty years. For a long time, they would ride their bikes there almost every day, and she even remembers when the café first opened.
But about three years ago, John was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. They had to stop biking, and now they live about 45 minutes away. Still, every week, Suz-Anne drives them back to this little café — their favorite spot — to keep the memory alive.
A Holy Spirit Nudge
I happened to have my camera with me, and something in me just said, ask.
(And honestly, I fully believe this was a prompting from the Holy Spirit.)
So I turned to her and said,
“This might be random… but I’m a photographer. Would you like me to take a few photos of you and your husband here — at your favorite place?”
She immediately started to cry — tears of joy, gratitude, and love all wrapped together.
It was such a simple, unexpected moment, but one of those reminders of why I do what I do. Photography isn’t just about pretty pictures; it’s about preserving the moments that mean the most — the ones that tell a story.
I’m so glad I had the chance to capture theirs. ❤️
I’m still in awe of how incredibly blessed I was to have crossed paths with them — at the right place, at the right time.
The worst they can say is no.
But the best? It could turn into something beautiful.
Just ask.
The Ripple Effect
If you’re a photographer, or just someone who has the chance to do something kind for another person — just ask.
The worst they can say is no.
But the best? It could turn into something beautiful.
After I posted the video of our encounter on social media, it completely took off — over two million views combined.
I was overwhelmed by how quickly kindness travels. Not only was I able to bless Suz-Anne and John, but thousands of strangers reached out with the sweetest comments and messages. The world needs more hope like that.

Her Words
When I sent Suz-Anne the digital photos, she replied with this message:
“OMG. These are incredible photos — much more than I expected. Thank you very much for giving me the reflections of our time together. You’ve captured our memories, a priceless gift! Personally, I can’t thank you enough for the reflections of our memories. It’s all I will have left.” ❤️🩹💕
... I still tear up every time I read that.
What's Next
Since then, Suz-Anne and I have made plans to meet back up at the café for brunch with our husbands at the end of this month — and I can’t wait to bring her printed copies of their photos.
This experience moved me so deeply that I’ve been dreaming about making it something more — maybe an ongoing photo series, or even a scholarship fund where people can donate to gift portrait sessions for the elderly.
Because moments like these deserve to be remembered.
