When Sessions Don’t Go as Planned
Sometimes sessions don’t go the way we expect, but God always shows up in the little details. This maternity session on the Florida coast started with a downpour, a lost phone, and a whole lot of prayer—but it turned into one of the most memorable evenings I’ve had as a photographer.
The Storm Rolls In
As I waited on the shore for my clients to arrive, the skies opened up. The rain came down so hard that my umbrella flipped inside out, and I could barely see through the water in my eyes. By the time I reached the parking lot, I realized my phone was gone. Without it, I couldn’t contact my clients, and we had already agreed to drive down the coast to avoid the storm.
Searching in the Rain
Barefoot and drenched, I ran back down the beach, praying under my breath as I frantically searched near the pier. How was I supposed to find my clients without directions or a way to call them? Just then, a kind stranger let me borrow their phone to call mine. To my relief, a woman answered—she had found my phone and was waiting in her car in the parking lot. God had answered my prayers through the kindness of strangers.
A Session Saved by Blue Hour
Reunited with my phone, I finally met my clients nearly an hour later than planned. We drove about 30 minutes down the coast until the skies cleared, starting our session just before 8PM. Even without the golden sunset we imagined, the soft glow of blue hour wrapped us in magic. The images we captured were even more beautiful than I could have planned.
